Marquetry: Creating Images with Wood

6 Weeks / Tuesdays, 6:00-9:00pm

This class will focus on the double-bevel method of marquetry, a technique where different colors of wood veneers are carefully cut to fit precisely together creating a design in wood. Also covered will be applications for marquetry as well as resawing solid wood into veneers, vacuum press and simple veneer press techniques, the use of fret saw and scroll saw and applying a finish to completed designs. Prior woodworking experience is helpful, but not necessary.
